Forty-One

Yesterday was my birthday, and I hated to see it come to an end. Buzzard and I even stayed awake until 12:01 so we could say good-bye to my perfect day.
There were lots of well wishes. Thanks so much for all the sweet calls, and facebook posts, and beautiful cards, and text messages. There was a steady stream throughout the day, and it made me feel very loved, which is an oh-so-good place to be.

Buzzard left me a sweet surprise on the couch. I love how he remembered that I admired this pillow when we were in our favorite store together. I got to watch my nephews play in a junior high football game, and make some awesome plays. I got to spend time with my boys, running some errands and enjoying one another. I got to savor a soy pumpkin spice latte WITH whip. I even got to visit a sewing machine store and dream a little dream.

Mom took me to dinner at my favorite restaurant since Buzzard and the kids had a Bible Bowl practice. We came home and curled up on the couch to visit afterwards. Emma was very quiet. Too quiet. We should have known to go investigate far sooner than we did. She had a pretty major accident, and was hiding under the kitchen table with her farm animals. So, we ended the night with me bathing Emma, and Oma standing at the sink scrubbing farm animals. Sometimes I think I'm just as much work for her as I was 41 years ago!! :-)

It was such a great day, and even in the crazy spots, I got to enjoy spending time with and hearing from those I love fully. It made me very, very grateful for the gift of years.
