The Princess and the Pee

Basically, the excitement and anticipation of this weekend can be summed up in two words:

Tinkerbell. Underpants.

When I picked up Emma from school on Thursday, the teacher told me she had used the potty! We had some left over candy corn in our school tote, which she asked for immediately when we got home, so I told her to go on the potty and she could have some.

Thus began our official training. I'm fully armed with essentials: pink potty, candy corn, enthusiasm, and plenty of extra pairs of fancy pants; including a pack of pink ones from Nana. They are very spiffy. Far too spiffy to poop in, if you ask me.

So far, she's highly motivated by her sweet tooth. While a part of me feels guilty for using sugar as a reward system, an even bigger part of me is ready to stop buying diapers and willing to buy candy corn instead.

I haven't been highly motivated to leave any stage behind with this sweet child. Watching her grow up is bittersweet, and this is just one more indication that our baby days are quickly fading. She essentially decided on her own to do this, so away we go. Peer pressure is a funny thing, even at age 2! She sees the other kids going at school (show offs!) and wants to be in the "in" crowd. That would be the crowd who pees IN the potty.

Eye spy a big girl. In Tinkerbell underpants.

Good luck! I used candy as a reward with all three of mine. I got a fancy jar, filled it with fun and new candy they had never had and put it right in the bathroom. :0)
It did the trick!
