Wild Thing Quilt

Today I'm sharing one of my favorite quilts. This is Camille Roskelley's pattern, Wild Thing, made from her Simple Abundance fabric collection.

This is quite possibly my all time favorite line of fabric. I was very sad when I came to the end of my stash, and have already ordered more to make a second quilt with it. I love every single pattern and color in the entire collection.

I think the pattern is playful and fun, just what I wanted for my new living room.

I machine quilted using a rather tight stipple for lots of puckery goodness after it was washed. This is a snuggle quilt, for sure.

My favorite part is the giant ric rac trim. I loved working with it, and I just try hard not to look at the very corner of the quilt where I melted the ric rac with my iron. Eeks.

Aren't you crazy about these fabrics??

I took my inspiration for this quilt's verse from the name of the fabrics; Simple Abundance. I liked contemplating life's simple abundances while I was working on this project, and giving thanks for the many small ways the Lord has poured out blessings on our family. As usual, I asked Hannah to select the final verse for me, and she chose I Timothy 1:14,

"The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus."

That verse is also part of this year's Bible Bowl text, so it was a perfect match. I completed this quilt the same month that my kids memorized that chapter.
This is the inspiration for the quilt...our new leather couch. The cat likes to curl up on the back of it to sleep in the sun. Jeff was worried that his claws would eventually scratch up the leather, so we were keeping an old sheet over it. That was cramping my decor a bit. :-)

Leo now spends ALL his time stationed right here, doing this. He's like an old man who found a favorite blanket and decided to retire.

So, that's it. Leo's (and mine!) new favorite quilt.
