Snow People On Parade

If you are a northerner reading this, you have to just excuse me as I continue to marvel at the novelty that is SNOW DRIFTS. Drifts, people. We have drifts!! I moved to this state in 1984 and this is the most snow I've ever seen here. Buzzard has been glued to the weather reports. In one calendar day we received 11.2 inches of snowfall. That's a record! It did not stop falling the entire day. Kids and adults alike have been out in the streets celebrating, whooping, and playing! :)

Buzzard was out every so often yesterday checking our progress on our patio furniture.

This was my furniture when I woke up this morning. See? Drifts!

There were piles on top of our little shed. It was so pretty to look down on it from the upstairs windows.

The trees out back were just gorgeous. Almost like ice sculptures. The snow just kept on coming!

It goes without saying that today was another play day. Obviously, all local schools were closed, so what's a homeschooler to do?? We got up early to cover math and language arts and it was all I could do to keep the boys at the table. There was very little learning going on! Once kids started filing out into the front yards we were done for. That's okay. I was actually a little anxious to get outside myself!

I took my camera on a snow walk. The trees were heavily covered, and it sounded so pretty as the snow began to melt and fall through the branches. It started to get a little slushy, and by the time I got home from my walk my toes were wet and frozen.

Max built a cool snow fort with some neighborhood friends.

And scads of boys took sides in snowball wars.

I took a walk through the neighborhood to snap pictures of the snow people who have taken up residence here the past few days. This was my favorite.

How about the wooden spoon arms on this cowboy?

This one looks like he's winking.

And I loved this one-armed salute. I'll go ahead and say it. It looks like he's waving goodbye.

So, goodbye! :) I hope today was a great day where you live too
