Christmas Crafties

I didn't make as many gifts this year as I would have liked, but I did work on small projects here and there. I'm notorious for seeing a cute idea on a blog somewhere and not writing it down. So, when the inspiration strikes for me to make something I've seen I can't ever remember how to track it down for specific instructions, and I can't link to the blog to give credit where credit is due. I should write more things down.

Anyway, I didn't come up with this clever little idea for dish towels. Is saw it.....somewhere. On a blog. Since I couldn't find the original source, I improvised and made things up as I went along (and with what I could find on sale at Hobby Lobby). I made a few of these for hostess gifts this season. Of course, I never took pictures of the ones I gave away, and the only one I have left here is the "dud" that didn't really turn out right. I had to use two different sized buttons and one of my tree trunks is too short. But, I want to remember this idea for the future, so I'm posting a picture of it anyway.

I also found a cute little pattern to make card holders. These were quick and fun to make and I think they're super handy. I always seem to have too many cards in my wallet....grocery store cards, library cards, etc. I gave several away and just bought more fabric to make another batch. I noticed today at the quilt shop that this same pattern company does journal covers too. It's never too early to start thinking about next year's stocking stuffers!

These are great handmade gifts...I especially like the dish towels. I'm storing that one away for next year!
