Feels LIke Fall

Kelly is hosting a fall decorating day on her "Show Us Your Life" series. Fall is my favorite time of year, and I love surrounding myself with rich, autumn colors. I think I enjoy decorating for fall even more than Christmas. It isn't quite as overwhelming, and in a perfect world, it signifies the arrival of cooler temperatures. (Although you never know with Texas weather!)

This year most of my decorations are up high, because little hands were busy gathering acorns and rearranging leaves when I first started displaying everything. I figure I have future years to decorate the bottom third of our house with seasonal cuteness, so for this year only the upper surfaces are festive! :)

I wrote here about our front porch and Emma's love affair with Mr. Spider. He's still popular.

My favorite part of the house is the mantle. I wrote here about the Thankful banner I made last year. I love it so much that I'm working on one for every season.

I set up a spare little table in the crook of our stairway.

My dining room hutch holds my great grandmother's dishes, and the colors are perfect for this time of year.

There are little birdies on my chandelier....

....and a little warmth tucked into the corner.

The TV cabinet in the den is out of reach, so it is a safe haven for breakables.

I got the idea to put mini pumpkins on candlesticks from many posts in blogland. It is rare for both of these little pilgrims to be sitting together because Emma usually carries one of the "babies" off somewhere to hide.

This is my Bible study nook. This is my very own little corner of the world, and I love to curl up here in the mornings. The yellow sweetheart roses by my chair were a birthday surprise yesterday from a sweetheart of a friend. Aren't they dainty?
Apothecary jars filled with harvest goodies line the piano.

I never keep things the same from year to year. Here are a few shots of last year's decorations, and you can look Here to see more.

Look! I even decorate the yard for fall! :) Okay......God takes care of the outdoor decor.

After three days of rain there is finally sunshine in the forecast. With a little luck, we are dressing up tomorrow and heading out to the pumpkin patch. If nothing else, we can play in the mud! :)

The weekend plan is to put the finishing touches on the guest bath. Stop in next week to see final pictures! Thanks for stopping in to take a peek, and be sure to stop by Kelly's to see more fall fun.
