Greeks at War

An Ancient Greek foot soldier was called a hoplite.

They used huge shields in battle...

...and fourteen foot long pikes topped with iron tips called sarissas.

King Philip of Macedonia devised a brilliant military strategy called a "phalanx", where soldiers marched shoulder-to-shoulder and front-to-back. (Ever heard of being "flanked"?)

Front lines are ready.

It's little brothers army...

...versus big brother's army.

Some seriously big and hairy enemy interference snoops in to sniff around.

It's wartime, and we've done battle with glue guns, fun foam, and modeling clay. All in a Wednesday's work.
