Swingin' Sixteen

One of Hannah's friends turned 16 over the weekend, and his parents threw him a surprise party. The birthday boy loves to swing dance, so they moved all the furniture aside and set the stereo to some big band music.

Now, I will explain in no uncertain terms that Dove and Buzzard are couch people. We don't dance because we find it rather uncomfortable and awkward to trample all over each other's feet in public. However, the teens were enthusiastic about the dancing and required all the parents to learn the steps. After being tutored by numerous kind folk who explained the steps and demonstrated them repeatedly, Buzz and I finally caught on to a six count beat. Buzzard even learned to sway from side to side with rhythm. (This from a man who can't clap to praise music.) We cut a rug, yes we did, and even managed a few spins. What a ball! The music was fantastic, and we had a swingin' good time.

I love this one! Big brother feet teaching little brother feet just what to do...

Emma partied like she meant it...

The birthday boy. An awesome friend with a great sense of fun. Thanks for a great night, Evan, and HAPPY 16!

i watched it once.

i know....that's terrible, isn't it?
