Pick O' the Pun'kin Patch

Two of Buzzard's cousins met us in Kansas today, so GiGi got to be with eight of her eleven great grandchildren. Uncle Jim treated us all to a trip to the Pumpkin Patch, and it was the perfect way to enjoy the afternoon. First, we stopped off at the petting zoo...

Then, we took a hayrack ride...

And made our way through a corn maze....

The hay ride took us out to a gigantic field filled with pumpkins! The kids had a blast crawling through the twisted vines searching for just the right ones to bring home. We found some!!

The weather was perfect, and everyone had a great time. My great hope is that the kids are as worn out as I am. See this??

It is a stinker. A purple polka-dotted one. This is the great big smile I got this morning after she refused to sleep in her playpen last night. She is such an exceptional little traveler; sits contentedly for hours in her carseat and is amazingly flexible when her little schedule is amuck. But she will not, WILL not, will NOT, sleep in that pen. Phooey on the pen, she says. What are we to do? Put her in a pumpkin shell? Will that keep her very well? It worked for Peter, Peter, Pumpkin eater. Perhaps pumpkin picking has left her too pooped to party in her pen tonight.
