Today is Hubby's birthday. Hannah left town early this morning for a church function, so it was up to the boys and I to plan tonight's celebration. Our family was coming for dinner, and the boys had three special requests...they wanted to paint a birthday banner to hang in the hallway, they wanted to make banana pudding for dessert (Daddy's very favorite), and they wanted to get a bunch of colorful balloons. Those seemed like reasonable requests, so I peeled some bananas and broke out the watercolors. While we were at the party store picking up the balloons, we saw plastic frogs, and the boys decided they wanted to use those to decorate the table. Well, why not.
We had a great time tonight. We grilled burgers and hotdogs and had a great time visiting with family and very dear friends. Hubby loved his banner, but was slightly confused by the frogs. We just wanted him to have a really hoppy birthday. Is that toad-ally wrong? Oh, I must stop.
Hubby got a fantastic new stunt kite from his brother. Here he is admiring it with an atomic fireball stuck in his cheek...
Emma got snuggles from her Nana...We put sparkler candles on top of the cake...And those table frogs? What did they do after everyone went home and all was quiet and dark? Why, they danced, of course!! :) Happy Birthday, Sweetie! We had a wonderful time celebrating with you tonight, and I am thankful for the sweet blessing you are in my life.
Best-Ever Birthday Banana Pudding
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 small box vanilla instant pudding
1 cup milk
8 ounce container Cool Whip
Box of Nilla Wafers
4-5 firm bananas
Beat cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk on medium until creamy and smooth. In a small bowl, whisk together pudding and milk. Add to cream cheese. Gently fold in Cool Whip. Layer Nilla Wafers, sliced bananas, and cream mixture. Repeat layers. I sometimes make this in a footed bowl, and sometimes in a 9x13 pan.
