The Thrill of the Hunt

Every year our fun loving friends throw a lavish Easter party that is truly the family fun event of the season. He is a gourmet cook who sets out a serious spread of decadent fare. She is a free spirited cutie who spends weeks making dozens upon dozens of homemade confetti eggs for the occasion. Together they are the dreamteam of Easter celebrations, and my inspiration for being more loosey goosey. After all, this is no ordinary event. They have a pinata in the front yard, water balloon fights in the back yard, an egg toss with raw eggs, and small children walking through the living room with chocolate cupcakes. The crown jewel of the day is always the highly anticipated confetti egg hunt. Confetti, y'all. The kind that sticks to your shoes and gets tracked through the house. All the while the hosts just smile and laugh and serve up more food and make the guests feel welcome and adored. Now, I love to entertain too, but my idea of a guest is someone who takes their shoes off at the door and uses a coaster. I try to be fun, but finger foods and printed napkins are about as "zany" as I ever get. My "gift" for hospitality pales in comparison to the King and Queen of springtime. We ate great food today and laughed a lot. Then we all came home and shook confetti out of our hair. Inside. On the carpet. Because I can be a loosey goose too.
