Nana's Birthday Quilt

Yesterday was Nana's birthday, so we got moving early with our schoolwork so we could head to the farm with a pan of Ghiradelli dark chocolate brownies and a birthday surprise. I made her a quilt using the "disappearing 9 patch" pattern. This quilt was made from charm squares using fabrics from the "Blessings" line by Moda. I added 3 1/2 inch sashing between my blocks and a 5 1/2 inch outer border. I machine quilted using a stippling pattern. I wish I could have photographed it outside to get better light, but it rained all day yesterday.

The front...

The back...
I have decided that rather than name my quilts, I am going to give each one a verse. I love the idea of having a "covering" of Scripture with each blanket that I make. Hannah chose the verse for this quilt and it is Psalm 28:7.

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him."

Of course, it was field tested. There is no shortage of field testers in this house. The second a quilt goes down there is somebody walking on top of it or curled up under it!

Happy Birthday, Nancy. Thanks for sharing the afternoon with us.

What a beautiful quilt! And I love the idea of giving every project a verse.
