We went to the farm for Thanksgiving lunch today, and it was quite an impressive spread. Certainly plenty for overindulging! We required the kids to wear presentable clothing for the first seven minutes so we could snap a few family photos. :)
Emma didn't mind showing off her spiffy new Christmas dress to Nana and Papa. She wore a precious sweater dress with a reindeer with a pom-pom nose. She played with that pom pom throughout the day. Nothing like having a little toy sewn on to the front of your dress!
She enjoyed a fabulous feast in celebration of her very first Thanksgiving. She had her first taste of turkey and dressing, and also enjoyed macaroni, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, corn, jell-o salad, cranberries, and pumpkin bread. I'm not sure where she put all that food! All that eating wore her out, and she was down for quite a serious nap during the Dallas Cowboy game.
Food had the opposite effect on the boys. They were bursting with energy, so they organized a football game of their own. My brother in law built a goal post in his yard, so the kids love playing football out there.
I'm not a big Black Friday shopper. I do, however, scour the newspaper ads to see what kind of fabulous deals I will be missing. I want to know what kind of bargains everyone else is getting while I'm snuggled in bed, sleeping late. Tomorrow I plan to get a slow start, and then finish up our Christmas decorations. For now, I'm headed to bed, to count my blessings instead of sheep.
Happy Thanksgiving!
